I want Muslim men to stop referring to us as queens, hidden gems, pearls or whatever while they think they’re above us. I need to see them support us, not bring us down or erase us and back up their oppression by misusing revelation. I don’t want to hear words that mean nothing. I need to see a change in attitude, a change in behavior, more respect, more appreciation, more fairness in treatment and that will be worth more than being called a ‘hidden gem’ stemming from fetishization of what an ‘ideal Muslim woman’ should be like.
